Is that a little sign of fall I see?

That's right! You see a L.L. Bean Hammock with our last name monogrammed on the pillow! All New England homes need one of these, so thanks to my mom, we now have one, too! But right next to it is sedum that starts to bloom in the FALL! The best season ever has arrived! I can't wait to lay outside and read on the weekends while looking at the beautiful foliage in my own backyard.

Labor Day Weekend

The best part of Labor Day is that I DON'T have to be at work! What a beautiful day for some Mommy, Puck, and Lisa time.

I Heart September!

This really is the best month! My anniversary was on the first: 3 years! Naturally, it was about 100 degrees in CT with what seemed like 100% humidity. So, here's some math for you-

First Week of School(Long Hot Day + Anniversary) =

Yup.

We had EARLy dismissal on Friday because of the hurricane. (Get it... EARLy dismissal... Hurricane EARL Ha! One of my clever friends came up with that!) All we saw were a few sprinkles of rain, but boy it was nice to get a few extra hours of a long weekend!

Today, I used the Garmin, and for the first time, I finished 3.1 miles without walking in the middle. YAY! It's taken me an embarassing 8 months to get this far, but I am proud of myself none the less. I went 3.12 miles, in 37:17 minutes, an average pace of 11:58 minutes per mile. So, that pace is pretty slow, but I am going to blame it on the allergies today. Even though I'm not feeling up to snuff, I had to go try out the Garmin and take advantage of the beautiful early fall weather!

Finally, there is this family 4 houses away that rescued a 2-year-old olde english bulldog. It surprised the family by having 5 puppies! From the information they gathered from the owner, the father is a puggle/dalmation and the mother is the olde english bulldog. These puppies are quite a mix. I don't know how long the video cam will be on, but here is the link to the webcam:

I love them!

You know you need new shoes if-

I noticed that my feet were sliding around inside my shoes while I ran (a very uncomfortable feeling). Then I got home and saw the soles were seriously worn, so I decided it was time for a new pair of kicks. When I told the lady at the running store they were a year old, she had an expression of terror and shock. She preached, "NO LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS!" Lesson learned.

Her best sales pitch when I tried them on: "There is not a big difference in the weight of the shoe, they are stable, waterproof, and look GREAT on you!" SOLD! When I tested them out today, my run wasn't as hard and my legs felt much better when I was done.

Trail Running

So, now that fall is here I need to say goodbye to margaritas, mojitos, and Magic Hat beer. It was fun putting on 5 lbs drinking them, but the fun needs to end. I'm back to school now, so in the interest of fitting into my clothes, I need to get back on the wagon.

One of my favorite fitness routines is running in the woods! How could you NOT enjoy running on this flat, scenic trail?

The trails all wind around reservoirs that look like this!

The only problem I have is that I have no clue how far I am running. I have tried estimating the run using mapmyrun.com, but I can't be sure of the distance because it winds around so much. So, Mike bought me this (He LOVES Garmin products.):

This should help me figure out how far I am running accurately. I can even use it when we go out on our bikes this fall! I can't wait to use it!

And today's obsession is...

"Tragedy blows through your life like a tornado, uprooting everything, creating chaos. You wait for the dust to settle, and then you choose. You can live in the wreckage and pretend it's still the mansion you remember. Or you can crawl from the rubble and slowly rebuild. Because after disaster strikes, the important thing is that you move on. But if you're like me, you just keep chasing the storm." ~Veronica Mars

Where was I when this show was on? Have I really watched 12 episodes in one day?

My Name is Puck, P-U-C-K, and I'm addicted to...

EATING! Why won't this dog stop? He eats his own food, Jasper's food (father-in-law's dog), he eats ANYTHING that's been dropped on the floor, and when he's bored he licks the couch.

Look at these rolls!

The other part of the problem is that this is where the dog lays from 7pm to 10am! What dog stays in bed without going to the bathroom until 10am? That is it! I staged an intervention and this dog will be getting exercise 2x a day! I don't care whether I have to drag this dog down the street on his belly! He is going walking!

Quite frankly, I wish I had someone who would drag me down the street when I am being lazy.
